SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY PROGRAM

The purpose of TOIOG Scholarship/Bursary program is to supplement the efforts the communities and governments to provide adequate education to all citizens by supporting the core Osun students that are pursuing higher education. This scholarship is targeted to those that have a proven track record of strong academic performance and possess a significant financial need. In order to further support the educational endeavors of students in our Local Governments,  members voluntarily stepped forward to supplement the original scholarship/bursary awards. At the beginning of each award year, the scholarship committee derives goals, identify members of satellite committee (in Nigeria), eligibility criteria, requirements, award amount and the content of the application. The two committees will begin to coordinate to craft all necessary strategies, steps and programs needed for the awards. Individual members of the organization may voluntarily award sholarship/bursary for any personal reason through the organization. Each student under this supplemental program will also receive same amount originally determined by scholarship committee.

2017 BURSARY PROGRAM

The Osun Indigenes Organization U.S.A invites sons and daughters of the core Osun to apply for a Bursary made available by the above association for the year 2017/18

PURPOSE OF THE BURSARY

To support students of Osun Indigenes who are in financial needs.

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for this Bursary, you must be from the core Osun and currently have admission to a college or university.

BURSARY REQUIREMENTS:

Must demonstrate need and be self-disciplined as displayed through:

1.    Good academic standing

2.    Have financial need

3.    Be enrolled or accepted as a fulltime student

SUBMITT THE FOLLOWING:

1.    A two page, typed, double spaced essay on the subject “Why I need Financial Aid.”

2.    Submit three letters of recommendation from the following:

o   The religious leader within your community

o   A teacher who is familiar with your educational goals

o   Your Local Government

Please also include the following in your application package:

-  2 Current Passport Photos (Must be no more than six months old)

-  Your most recent School Transcript

-  A copy of your Birth Certificate

METHOD OF DISBURSMENT: All Bursary funds will be disbursed directly to the school that the winner states in his/her application upon verification. Winners will be notified by email, telephone or as posted at www.osunindigenes.com
